How to upload content using Portal Explorer?
From Sense/Net 6.0 Wiki
Often you might want to upload documents, pictures etc. to your portal, so let’s see how this is to be done.
Create a .txt file on your computer and name it UploadTest.txt. (you must write something in the document since the system will not upload 0 byte sized files)
- Make sure you are logged in to your portal as an Administrator.
- In the upper right corner of the page you are looking at you can find the icon of the Portal Remote Contol (PRC). Click this icon. This will bring forth the PRC pane.

- Click Open Portal Explorer. The page transforms to Portal Explorer’s graphical user interface, with three distinct sections in it.

- In the tree-structure select the folder you just created by clicking it. The folder will be highlighted, and the content of the folder will be shown in the middle section of the interface. This folder is empty, so there can be no files displayed.
- Click Upload Files on the toolbar.
Upload files dialog box is displayed.
- Click on Upload File. This will open a dialog box where you can select a file or files to upload to your portal.
- Click on "Upload file" to open the dialog box where you can browse the files you can upload. You can upload multiple files by using the multiselect option (shift, ctrl or with mouse button)
- Select a file or files then click Open. You can monitor the status of your uploads on the panel. It also displays the error message next to the file you want to upload which produced the malfunction, and the upload process will not stop by that file, it will continue to upload all file without problems.
- There is a message displayed in the dialog box: „UploadTest.txt completed”. Click Close dialog. The dialog box closes and the content of the UploadTest Folder now shows the file you uploaded.

Information:
Portal Explorer organizes the content of all folders to in a way that only 25 elements of the given folder is displayed on the screen at once. In order to view other files in the folder you have to use the next/previous page buttons at the bottom of Portal Explorer's middle section. This feature makes Portal Explorer significantly faster and more reliable, but comes with slight disadvantage: if you upload a file to a folder that has more than 25 elements in it, the file might not be visible on the first page - for example the elements of the folder are organized in alphabetical order, and your file's name is XYZ.doc, it will most likely be displayed on the last page of the folder's content.
The other thing worth a mention is that you can organize contents in a folder by their names, date of modification and by the names of the modifiers. However, you can only organize the elements on the page that is displayed (the 25 elements of the folder) by these attributes. This will be corrected soon.

After uploading the content, you will be able to see their details in the middle section of the Portal Explorer and on each file's datasheet.
The Upload.txt file is now uploaded and it became a content of your Enterprise Content Manager System. Using this procedure you can upload almost any content to your portal.
